Scotland's premier company creation competition and entrepreneurial development programme brings together the most ambitious and creative thinkers from academia, research and business.

A prize fund of £150,000 alongside great networking opportunities and a comprehensive support and training package are available. There are three winning categories for the Converge Challenge 2016: Converge Challenge Award, KickStart Award and Social Enterprise Award.

Converge Challenge is looking for ambitious and creative thinkers with innovative ideas that we can help to develop for the commercial world. We understand that the process of developing a company can be a daunting prospect; we offer hands-on mentoring, rigorous training, business support and networking opportunities to help turn your idea into a reality!

The programme is funded by eight Scottish Universities and the Scottish Funding Council to give students and staff from all Scottish Universities and Research Institutes the chance to exploit the commercial potential of their inventions. In addition, Converge Challenge partners with a number of reputable companies who provide expert and invaluable support to our winners and alumni - Murgitroyd, Morton Fraser, Royal Bank of Scotland, Informatics Ventures, Mortonward, Fearsome, Entrepreneurial Scotland, Mazars, BQ Business Quarter Magazine and Badenoch and Clark.

The Converge Challenge series is a great opportunity to develop your business skills, build your confidence and learn from some of the country's most successful entrepreneurs. The programme will provide you with excellent networking opportunities to connect and interact with like-minded people and build your business contacts.We work with any industry sector, product or service-based idea at any stage of the development.

The winners across all categories will be announced at an Awards Dinner at The Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh on September 22nd 2016 at a gala black tie Awards Ceremony. In the meantime do join in the Converge Challenge conversation on any one of our social channels.

Do you have a big idea? Are you looking to spin your idea out from the University? Then the Converge Challenge is for you! Converge Challenge provides hands-on mentoring, business support and offers a first prize of £71,000 (cash and in kind business support) to help turn your idea into a reality! Read more

Do you have an early-stage idea for a new product, or service? If so we can offer business support and provide enough funding for you to create a prototype or secure IP rights.The winner will receive a £3,000 cash injection that will help to kickstart their business venture and one runner up will receive £2,000 cash prize. Does your business idea focus on tackling social problems, strengthening communities, improving people's life chances or protecting the environment? If so you could be in with a chance of winning thousands of pounds to help you make a difference. The Social Enterprise Award first prize is £5,000 cash and one runner up will win £3,000 cash.
