SymBIOsis Community Solutions

Currently on many isolated islands, communities are striving to become more sustainable, independent and embed circular economy practices throughout their society. However, in many cases a key component (waste) to creating the circular economy model is being disregarded due to the lack of options available. SymBIOsis will provide waste management solutions for isolated island communities in the form of community driven bioeconomy symbiosis, recovering energy using anaerobic digestion plants. This will involve converting farming, distillery and brewery waste from local producers and transforming it into biogas to create electricity, heat and truck fuel and will also create a nutrient-rich biofertiliser.
