Accelerating the future of space innovation

Converge has today launched its first Space Challenge, and is on the hunt for academic innovators with pioneering ideas which have the potential to transform the space sector.

Delivered in partnership with Space Scotland, the programme is open to staff, students and recent graduates from Scotland’s universities working in disciplines related to the space sector, at an early stage of development.

Successful applicants to the programme will receive expert-led business training and industry engagement, designed to give them the foundations to transform their research into successful business ventures.

“Scotland’s space sector is soaring and today, we’re adding even more fuel to that momentum,” commented Adam Kosterka, executive director of Converge.   “The recent Artemis II mission has reignited the world’s imagination about what space can mean for our future.   Scotland already has a burgeoning space industry, and with this Challenge, we will be unlocking even more potential from Scotland’s universities.”

As a first step towards commercialisation, the programme also offers expert support from Space Scotland and the Higgs Centre for Innovation.   Participants will join a carefully selected cohort of like-minded academics, and have the opportunity to compete for a £5,000 cash prize.

More information on the Space Challenge is available here, with the deadline for applications at 12 noon on 21 May.
