Novosound, the first spin-out company to emerge from the University of the West of Scotland, is trailblazing a new technique to mass-manufacture printable ultrasound sensors. Unlike existing ultrasound sensors, Novosound’s sensors are flexible and can be used at very high temperatures making them ideal for a wide range of non-destructive testing applications. They also offer MRI levels of ultrasound imaging but without the associated cost.
Since raising £1.5million in seed funding, Novosound has grown from a team of six to fifteen staff and generated revenues in its first year. The company has ambitious future growth plans focusing on strategic partnerships with resellers and end users across industrial and medical sectors.
