WORKSHOP

Breaking the second glass ceiling – a “how-to” guide for female founders looking for investment

More women than ever are starting new businesses in Scotland*, but how can they meet the challenges of securing investment and scaling up?

In a world where only 14% of all capital raised goes to women-led businesses, and women start their businesses with 53% less capital than men do, how can we address this imbalance, the second ‘glass ceiling’?

Aimed at both established female entrepreneurs and aspiring founders, this workshop will bring together investors and entrepreneurs to explore some of the challenges women face in securing funding, and will offer practical solutions.

Speakers include:

  • Gillian Fleming, CEO, Mint Ventures
  • Jordan Dargue, CEO, Tees Valley Business Hub
  • Daisy Ford-Downes, head of group investment programmes, Firstport

Chaired by Dr Claudia Cavalluzzo, executive director of Converge, Scotland’s leading company creation programme for the academic sector, this workshop will be friendly and informal, with plenty of opportunity for discussion. It’s guaranteed to send you away enthused about taking the next step towards establishing or growing your own business.
